17/08/2023 - Vera and Golden Boy have emerged as the only other awardees, with one prize apiece

The winners of the series awards at the Sarajevo Film Festival

At a ceremony that took place on 13 August in the Hills Hotel in Sarajevo, the winners of the Heart of Sarajevo Awards for TV series were announced. A total of 19 shows from the region of the former Yugoslavia and over 50 actors, screenwriters, directors and producers were competing for the awards in front of a collective jury of 450 film professionals from the same region. The event was hosted by Croatian actor and TV presenter Tarik Filipović.

The drama categories were dominated by The Hollow, created by Oscar-winning director Danis Tanović and producer Amra Bakšić Čamo, which scooped six of the eight prizes. The Hollow won the top prize as Best Drama Series, Feđa Štukan was rewarded as Best Lead Actor, while Ida Keškić and Boris Ler were crowned Best Supporting Actress and Actor, respectively. On top of that, Tanović and Aida Begić got the Award for Best Director of an Episode, while Tanović, Bakšić Čamo, Nikola Kuprešanin and Adnan Lugonić were deemed the authors of the Best Screenplay for an Episode. The Best Actress Award went to Jovana Stojiljković for the title role in the series Vera, while Denis Murić scooped the Rising Star in a Drama Series Award for his role in Golden Boy.

In the comedy categories, the clear (and only) winner was the second season of the Serbian series Mom and Dad Are Playing War, which swept the prizes in all six categories. On top of winning the top prize, Gordan Kičić was awarded as Best Director of an Episode and Best Actor, while, along with his co-writers Gvozden Đurić and Marko Manojlović, he also got the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Screenplay for an Episode. Actors Nina Janković and Aleksej Bjelogrlić scooped the gongs for Best Actress and Rising Star in a Comedy Series, respectively.
